Programme Overview

We treasure talents, and are determined to provide a platform for their personal growth and career development. Established in 2011, our Management Trainee (“MT”) Programme is a talent nourishing program tied with our corporate aspirations and objectives for future successions to middle or senior management. Given the Bank’s solid background in Hong Kong and close relationship with CMB, the Programme is characterized by a substantial exposure to mainland China market.

Aiming to develop high-calibre individuals with drive to contribute to and align your personal objectives with the Bank’s growth, the 24-month MT Programme offers you a solid all-round foundation and pave your progressive pathway to focused areas.

Training and Development
Orientation and Intensive Classroom Training: 3 months

It encompasses overview of the banking system as well as the roles of individual departments in aligning functions with the Bank’s strategy. You will be equipped with the Bank’s structure and culture, various business units’ overview and synergy with each other, regulatory environment of banking industry, etc.

Job Rotation: 21 months

To enhance learning effectiveness gained from classroom training, job rotation to retail frontline, key business unit counterparts and then designated home department (according to career preference you indicated) will be arranged. You will experience and practice what you have learnt in the classroom training, and build working relationship and network with various units, which will be a valuable resource for your future career success in the Bank.

Attachment to mainland China branch will be integrated into job rotation, through which you will experience regional differences in regulatory requirements, business model, market and customer segment, and the most important, synergy with headquarter on the operation and business direction. It is surely good to gain exposure to mainland China market.

Management Assignment

As Management Trainee of the Bank, you will actively participate in various internal activities, important projects and assignments from senior management, in which you will have a better understanding of the Bank’s strategies and direction. Diversified learning and development opportunities will be given with considerable support from the management.

Career Path

You will be offered middle level position in focused area upon completion of the Programme, and be equipped to take managerial position with on-going work challenges and practices.

Requirements
To join the Programme, you should:
  • Hold a bachelor degree or above from an accredited university
  • Have strong passion to develop your career in banking profession
  • Be keen to gain exposure and development in mainland China market
