To provide the population in Hong Kong with a comprehensive retirement protection, the Government passed the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (MPFSO) in August 1995, which makes provident fund a required benefit to be provided by all local registered employers. Wing Lung Bank Limited ("Wing Lung Bank"), in association with a number of Hong Kong's eminent financial institutions, established Bank Consortium Holding Limited in 1999. BCT Financial Limited / Bank Consortium Trust Co. Ltd. ("BCT") are now providing clients with a full range of pension products and services, including MPF schemes (master trust scheme and industry scheme) and ORSO schemes (pooled and independent plans).

Types of MPF Plans:

MPF is a defined contribution scheme in which both employers and employees have to make contributions.

In general there are three main types of MPF schemes:

  1. Master Trust Schemes
  • This scheme is open to all employers.
  • Administration cost can be shared with other employers as the contributions are placed on investment and managed collectively.
  • It is suitable for small-to-medium sized companies and self-employed persons.
  • Bank Consortium MPF Plan provides different investment funds with different risk profiles and managed by renowned fund management companies for members’ selection. There is no limit on the number of switching between the constituent funds. Fund switching is free of charge.   1. Industry Schemes
  • This scheme is specially designed for construction and catering industries with high labour mobility.
  • An employee need not transfer his scheme when switching jobs in the same industry.
  • BCT Industry Plan provides different investment funds with different risk profiles and managed by renowned fund management companies for members’ selection. There is no limit on the number of switching between the constituent funds. Fund switching is free of charge.   1. Employer Sponsored Schemes
  • It is a scheme to be established by a single employer.
  • Scheme members consist of employees of that particular employer and its associated companies.
  • It is suitable for companies with a large number of employees.

Procedures of Joining a Scheme/Transfer of Scheme:

Act now to join the BCT's MPF plans:

  1. Call our MPF Service Hotline at 2826 8456 to arrange a convenient time for a meeting with our MPF intermediary, or obtain a copy of the Principal Brochure and other relevant materials of the Plan at our Head Office or any of our branches.
  2. Our MPF intermediary will explain the Plan to you in detail, help you with your enquiries about the Plan and assist you in making application.
  3. All relevant documents will be sent to BCT for processing.
