    Outbound Travel Alert Extended Coverage

    To provide comprehensive protection to travel insurance policyholders of Wing Lung Insurance Co. Ltd., starting from the Outbound Travel Alert System* (OTAS) was launched on 20 October 2009 by HKSAR, we offer an "Outbound Travel Alert Extended Coverage"benefits at free of charge. In the event that the Security Bureau of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issues an "Outbound Travel Alert"to a destination after an insurance cover has been granted, we shall reimburse the insured person in accordance with the maximum benefits limit of the plan selected, as below:

    I If a "Black Alert"is issued
     
    1. "Deposit &Cancellation Charge"Cover
      In the event of an unavoidable cancellation of the scheduled journey, we will reimburse the insured person for loss of airfares, accommodation expenses and other travel expenses prepaid in advance which are not recoverable from any other source, provided that the insurance cover is granted not later than 7 days before the date of the "Black Alert"is issued at the designated destination and the cancellation shall take place while such Alert is still in force.
    2. "Curtailment Expenses"Cover
      During the journey, in the event of an unavoidable curtailment of the scheduled journey, we will pay for additional and reasonable traveling expenses and/or irrecoverable airfares, accommodation and other travelling expenses.
    3. "Travel Delay"Cash Allowance Cover
      We will pay a lump-sum cash allowance of HK$1,500, HK$1,000 and HK$500 for Diamond Plan, Gold Plan and Silver Plan respectively for unavoidable delay of power driven aircraft or sea vessel for more than 8 consecutive hours as from the scheduled departure time.
    II If a "Black Alert", "Red Alert"or "Yellow Alert"is issued
     
    1. a. Automatic Extension of Period of Insurance
      The insurance cover will be automatically extended up to a maximum of 10 days if the insured person is unavoidably delayed during the scheduled journey.

    Age Limit:
    1. Coverage is available to adults up to 80 years of age before the inception of the journey. For insured accompanied children, the age limit is from 3 months to 18 years.
    2. Children aged between 12-18 years, coverage can be enhanced by paying adult's premium but they can only be covered under the GOLD or SILVER PLAN. For individually insured children, they must obtain consent from their parents(s) or guardian.
     

    Worldwide Emergency Assistance

    1.

    Medical Advice - Provide medical advice to the Users over the telephone and will provide the Users with information about physicians, hospitals, clinics, dentists and dental clinics worldwide.

    2.

    Arrangement of Hospital Admission - If the medical condition of the Users is of such gravity that hospitalization is needed, we will assist the User by arranging for hospital admission.

    3.

    Monitoring of Medical Condition when Hospitalized - Doctors will monitor the User's condition when being hospitalized.

    4.

    Arrangement of Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation - Arrange for the air and/or surface transportation, medical care during transportation, communications and all usual ancillary service when moving the User to the nearest hospital where appropriate medical care is available. We will arrange for the return of the User to Hong Kong following an emergency medical evacuation of subsequent in-hospital treatment in a place outside Hong Kong.

    5.

    Arrangement of Repatriation of Mortal Remains - Arrange for the transportation of the User's mortal remains from the place of death to Hong Kong or arrange for local burial at the place of death as requested by the subscriber.

    6.

    The above service is organized by appointed emergency assistance.

Main Exclusions

1.

Any injury or loss due to war, riot, civil commotion, invasion, insurrection, revolution, use of military or usurped power, nuclear fission or fusion and radioactive contamination.

2.

Intentional self-inflicted injury or suicide.

3.

Intoxication by alcohol, narcotics or drugs not prescribed by a legally qualified and registered medical practitioner.

4.

Dental treatment (except as necessitated by accidental injuries to natural teeth).

5.

Baggage & Personal Effects do not include animals, mobile phones, computers and notebooks, jewellery, artificial teeth, money and the like.

6.

Loss of or damage to contact lenses, fragile or brittle articles unless caused by fire or accident to the conveyance.

7.

Childbirth, pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion and all complications in connection therewith.

8.

Any prohibition or regulations by any government, any illegal or unlawful act by the Insured Person or confiscation, detention, destruction by customs or other authorities.

9.

Big game hunting, motorcycling, riding or driving in any kind of race, professional sporting games, aerial activities other than parachuting and air travel (other than as a passenger in a properly licensed power-driven aircraft).

10.

Sickness, illness, injury or medical condition that already existed, signs or symptoms that already presented and/or are known to the Insured Person prior to the journey or the purpose of the journey is for seeking medical treatment.

11.

Nervous and mental disease or disorder, AIDS, venereal disease, congenital anomalies or deformities.

12.

Loss, damage, death, injury, illness, cost and expense of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by, resulting from or in connection with any act of terrorism.

13.

Insured Person engaging in any form of non-administrative business activities during the travel period.

Important Notes to Proposer

1.

The Insurance will not become effective until this proposal form has been accepted by Wing Lung Insurance Co. Ltd. ("the Company").

2.

The Insured Person must be fit to travel at time of purchasing this insurance and is not aware of any circumstances which could lead to cancellation or disruption of the journey. Otherwise any claim could be prejudiced.

3.

This Policy shall be interpreted in accordance with the law and jurisdiction of Hong Kong.

4.

The "Single Journey" insurance cover shall be non-renewable and non-cancellable, the premium is non-refundable once the Policy is issued.

5.

An Insured Person can be covered under only one travel insurance policy of the Company for the same journey.

6.

For "One Way Journey Cover", coverage shall be expired 5 days after the scheduled time of arrival at the country of final destination or upon expiry of the original period of insurance, whichever is the earlier.

7.

The insurance cover will be automatically extended without extra charge for a maximum of 10 days if the Insured Person is unavoidably delayed during the scheduled overseas journey (only applicable to "Single Journey" travel policy).

8.

All non-professional sports such as scuba diving, water skiing, rafting, sailing, windsurfing, other water sports and underwater activities, bungee jumping, horse riding activities, parachuting, trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing, winter sports etc, are covered without extra premium. If the Insured Person sustains injury or accidental death when participating in these activities, the maximum benefits under Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be reduced by 50%.

9.

For age over 70, the aggregate limit for benefits 1, 2 and 3 will be reduced by 30%. Benefit 4 will be reduced by 50%.

10.

Medical expenses incurred in Hong Kong within 3 calendar months after the Insured Person's return from overseas are covered provided that such expenses are incurred for consultation or medical treatment on the same diagnosis as certified by a registered overseas medical practitioner.

11.

Loss of baggage and personal effects or personal money must be reported to the police at the place of the loss within 24 hours and a police report obtained.

12.

Immediate notice shall be given to the Company of any occurrence likely to give rise to a claim under the Policy upon the Insured Person's return to Hong Kong. Written proof of loss including all original invoices, receipts, information and evidence together with a completed Claim Form shall be submitted within 30 days after the date of such loss. For personal liability to third party claim, no admission of liability, offer or promise or payment shall be made without the Company's consent.

13.

You have to disclose in this application ALL material facts which shall form the basis of any policy issued hereunder, otherwise the policy issued may be void or voidable. If in doubt whether a fact is material, please disclose. Any alternations or corrections on this proposal form should be endorsed by the policy owner.

14.

Proposer should keep a record (including copies of letters) of all information supplied to the Company for the purpose of application for this insurance.

15.

In case of discrepancies between the English and Chinese version, the English version shall prevail.

16.

In respect of an eligible dispute (as defined in the Terms of Reference for the Financial Dispute Resolution Centre in relation to the Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme) arising between the Bank and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, the Bank is required to enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any dispute over the contractual terms of this Plan should be resolved between directly Wing Lung Insurance and the customer.
